About Me

I’m Alison, a Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach and Functional Nutrition Counselor.

As a midlife woman, I understand firsthand the unique challenges that come with this transformative stage of life. My journey has been marked by its share of ups and downs, including battles with symptoms of hormonal imbalances, including terrible PMS and heavy periods, estrogen dominance, acne, infertility, and sleep disturbances, to name a few.

I was a binge drinker from college into my 40s and decided to quit drinking alcohol back in 2018, worried about my future health and the role model I was for my three young sons.  When I was a drinker, I didn’t realize how much alcohol negatively affected my hormones, and I suffered many symptoms related to hormonal imbalances that I would have avoided if I knew what I know now.  What I also discovered was that alcohol was just one piece of the puzzle.

Once I stopped drinking, I discovered I had a “love of learning” I never knew existed, so I went back to school and obtained two master’s degrees and a few certifications.  Through dedication, education, and a commitment to holistic wellness, I’ve not only overcome these challenges but also discovered my passion for helping others navigate similar journeys to reclaim their energy and well-being.

My Statement of Integrity:

I have attempted to quit drinking alcohol twice in my life and have never used any other substances.  During my first attempt in September 2016, I tried AA for a couple of months but found that while it was a great support system, it wasn’t for me.  I ended up staying alcohol-free on my own for about 7 months and then decided to go back to it, promising myself that I would moderate and that if I didn’t, I would quit again.

Moderation didn’t work for me (as it doesn’t for most), and after binge drinking for another year and a half, I quit again on September 4, 2018.  This time I found support that worked for me.  I read This Naked Mind, by Annie Grace, and completed the 30-day Alcohol Experiment.  From that point on, with the education and mindset shift I gained from this experience, I knew alcohol had no place in my life and I became a Certified This Naked Mind Coach and Certified Gray Area Drinking Coach so that I could support others who struggle with it.  I have coached in the Live Alcohol Experiment and The PATH Program, in addition to my private practice.

While I understand it can be extremely challenging to make the shift in lifestyle to go alcohol-free, I finally made myself a priority, and did it firstly to take care of myself and my health and, secondly, to be a good role model for my three sons.  While alcohol surrounds all of us in culture and community, and I know how it might seem like “the grass is greener on the other side” when it comes to moderating alcohol use, I don’t support moderation since it’s a toxin that can have detrimental effects on our mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.  I believe that it’s best to abstain completely and I do not promote and coach for moderation.
